What do you think of the new StumbleUpon?

Couldn’t agree more.

breezingby:

A quote of just One entry, in this link…
“In each previous revision of the user interface people have complained. Some of it was simply the fact that some people don’t much like change where the benefit isn’t obvious but the complaint often reflected real usability problems.

The thing is .. I’ve never seen criticism of a new interface as consistent and comprehensive as this. Its worse than it looks, in fact, because so many of the more vocal and experienced users have already moved on.

What this *should* be telling Stumbleupon is that they’ve got it seriously wrong this time and they need to go back to the drawing board to design the ‘social’ back into this allegedly ‘social-network’ which is in fact now anything but social.

What I believe is happening, though, is that they’re telling themselves ‘Oh they always complain .. they’ll accept it once we fix a few bugs’.

They won’t. It really does suck that much.”

Shall gods be said to thump the cloudsWhen clouds are cursed by thunder,Be said to weep when weather howls?Shall rainbows be their tunics’ colour? When it is rain where are the gods?Shall it be said they sprinkle waterFrom garden cans, or free the floods?Shall it be said that, venuswise,An old god’s dugs are pressed and pricked,The wet night scolds me like a nurse? It shall be said that gods are stone.Shall a dropped stone drum on the ground,Flung gravel chime? Let the stones speakWith tongues that talk all tongues. Dylan Thomas

Strange days…

OK, totally bizarro world around here for the last hour.

First, a large black woman in an ADT security shirt, wearing a badge & lanyard, and carrying an ADT sign, comes to the door, trying to sell me an alarm service. We chatted a bit, I pointed out the obvious….she left. Started thinking that ADT probably doesn’t go door to door….
So I called them, which took 10 minutes of jumping through the hoops….
Finally got a live person, who was the wrong live person, and then more hoops and finally someone who could answer that….he asked me to please call the police immediately. They do not send out salespeople to do cold calls.

Called them, then noticed my computer was now insisting that my copy of Windows was counterfeit. Which seemed a bit too co-incidental. Fortunately, it WAS a coincidence, but required calling MMD and handling that.

The young officer who arrived was incredibly allergic to cats….he couldn’t wait to bolt. He was still sniffling and rubbing his eyes while trying to write his report in his car for the last 20 minutes.

So anyway….if a big lady with an ADT sign suddenly appears at your door trying to sell you something, call MMD and get your software verified….I think that’s the moral of this story, anyway….
